Minnesota Teen Challenge is one of the largest and most effective long term treatment centers in the country, having roughly 400 students enrolled at any given time.
Executive Director Pastor Rich Scherber has dedicated a lot of his blood, sweat and tears into making this program a successful model of what every long term treatment facility should aspire to be.
They offer a one-year (13-15 months) men, women, teen boy and girl Lifecare programs, as well as men and womens "short term" 60 day Extended Care programs. All students in the program are residents for the duration. Out of state students are welcome, but they will usually have to pay cash for treatment (Minnesota has programs which assist it's state residents with housing during treatment such as this). Even so, it is one of the most affordable long-term, residential programs in the country.
Having completed (graduated) the one year Lifecare program, I am especially qualified to make these statements, knowing that what I say is accurate and true. For detailed information concerning the program, an application for treatment, employment or volunteer opportunities, click here.

Here are a few things about Erin:
She had a puppy named Molly. She has a younger sister named Theresa that she loved dearly. She liked to bowl. She loved all kinds of rides, especially roller coasters the bigger the better. She loved to help other people, she just couldn't help herself!
Erin's problems started at about age 15 with alcohol. What started out innocently quickly turned into a full blown addiction.

Pastor (Brother) Earl R. Gilchrist, is a living testimony of the miraculous, transforming, delivering power of the Lord Jesus Christ! Earl, has been in prison 5 times in 3 different states. He spent over 181/2 years of his life there, (not including city/county jails and workhouses). He’s been charged with crimes ranging from petty theft to 1 st degree murder. He was known around the country as a very vicious, violent, and dangerous man. He was addicted to heroin, cocaine, crack, methadone, dillaudid, and cough syrup.
While incarcerated Pastor Earl was compelled by God to write an autobiography and testimonial book, which he had published when he got out. The name of his book is “HOW I GOT OVER”, and gives details of his life as a gangster. It’s educational, informational, and a testimonial. The title was taken from the scripture in 1Jn.5:4; “For whatsoever is Born Of God Overcometh the world: and this is the Victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Brother Earl is the level 2 instructor and a counselor at MN Teen Challenge, and has his own ministry efforts including a prison outreach and Waters Of Life Outreach Ministries. This man made a difference in my life and he is an inspiration for all who meet him.
